What are tags? You can give your posts a "tag", which is like a keyword. Tags help you find content which has something in common. You can assign as many tags as you wish to each post.

You're not subtle, but you don't want to be. Fast, loud, and dramatic, you want people to notice you, and then get out of the way. In a world full of sheep, you're a raging bull.

Got this from Achish's post. She has the corresponding tables and interpretations for this as well as educational and occupational categorizations.
I really dunno, the results say I got 140 (college professor sa akin sa educational and occupational categorizations, go figure O_o;;). Pero dati pa yun, somewhere on that level since bata pa ako. Minsan 137, minsan 135, lowest e 127 dati (kung based duon sa previous values na yan e manager and editor sa educational and occupational categorizations, again go figure, O_o;;). Depende rin ata sa EQ at emotional state during the test. Accurate kaya ito? Pero alam ko habang tumataas mas nahihibang o nasisiraan ng ulo ata. O_o;; (Wala bang firebreather sa occupations?)
Your mind's strengths allow you to think ahead of the game — to imagine or anticipate what should come next in just about any situation. Because you're equally skilled in the numerical and verbal universes of the brain, you can draw from multiple sources of information to come up with great ideas. The timelessness of your vision and the balance between your various skills are what make you a Visionary Philosopher.
In addition to your strengths in math and linguistics, you have a knack for matching and anticipating patterns. These skills and your uncanny ability to detect the underlying blueprint of most of life's situations add to your Visionary Philosopher mind. Two philosophers who share the same combination of skills you possess are Plato and Benedict Spinoza. Spinoza had insight into how things worked in the world. He could envision a future based on the patterns he saw in life, and used mathematical logic as a structure within which to present his philosophical arguments. With that base he was able to use logic to formulate his theories. Borrowing from his linguistic strengths he wrote eloquent texts and, therefore, was able to bring his philosophical ideas and structure to the rest of the world. His story exemplifies the talents that are present in the Visionary Philosopher intellectual type.
Whatever you decide to do in life, you've got a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a wide variety of ways. You can expand your mind to understand a situation. Your strong balance of math and verbal skills will help you explain things to others. For example, if you were on an archaeological dig and discovered an object, you could probably use your deductive powers to figure out not only what the object was but also how it was used. Given your ability to put things together, you are more than capable of inventing a life plan that is in synch with your perspective on how things were, how they are, and how they might be one day.
It's all about building a network with resources devoted to reading materials, reviews, libraries, librarianship and librarians. A lot of ideas were tossed around and we all agree that it's time for something like this. It's definitely feasible.
This is also a call for pinoy librarians to start writing about the profession. We all have a lot of ideas and stories to tell and it's time to start now. As Von puts it, and we agree with him, no one is going to write about the profession except us.
Related to that, ahehehe, it was mentioned that me, Igor the gorilla, being a gorilla-of-all-trades, has a blog that is a blog-of-all-trades. O_o;; Ahehehe... The gorilla is just like that: librarianship, linux, pc hardware, web, retro and weird computing, dreams, theater, fire and skill toys, stuffed toys, graphics, manga, comics and what-not. But it had me thinking on the way home. Maybe it's time for a "re-focusing", as Arnold puts it, since I've chosen to devote a majority of my life and time to LIS again. That doesn't mean I'm abandoning the other things that make Igor into the gorilla and http://gokitomo.com into Monkeywrench. So just expect a blog revamp / redesign (Monkeywrench 2.2? 3.0?) for http://gokitomo.com to address this focusing. And since I frequently cross-post at "The Multiplying Gorilla" at Multiply.com and "Igor and Other Stuff" at Vox.com, I'll probably keep those for aggregated posts.O_o;;
Sidenote: I had a dream about this last year. A group was talking to me about my blog content and tags. Though I don't remember the faces of the people in my dream, I think this may be related to that dream. O_o;;
A storm is brewing in http://kidsahoy.multiply.com. No, it's not a typhoon of the 'Egay' variety, it's probably worse.
Youtube.com is full of them. People come in and post hateful, insulting and degrading comments on an item even if they can't measure up to nor understand the talents or capabilities of those in the video. Same goes for anything on the net with a commenting feature. People come in and post hateful and degrading comments even though they don't have a full grasp of the subject matter or the situation at hand. These netizens are usually called "Haterz". As opposed to "Trolls" and "Baiters"(wikipedia.org definitions), haterz contribute nothing to the original discussion and comments really just radiate of negativity (at least in some circles trolls take on the form of a devil's advocate and make you think despite the discord they sow).
The Urban Dictionary definitions of haterz describe them as "...those jealous of success" and "Someone who dislikes others and thinks they're better than them.".
A You-tube vid defining haterz entitled "The Definition of a Hater" describes them as those who:
"...DON'T WANT TO GET ALONG and they hate because they have nothing better to do, then they call (you) stupid or idiot because you express your opinion!"
I really don't know if angst, age, anonymity and wide reach of the internet are major factors in haterz culture. Some pinpoint teenagers as the main component of the haterz population. But then again there are some haterz who are way beyond their teens. Maybe it's really just the person behind the post. That I believe.
Anyway, kidsahoy has an ongoing photo contest. Along came two college QC "katips" college students who were trying to dissipate the boredom of a long, rainy weekend by taking the role of haterz. They started on a mini-rampage of "that kid's going to grow up to be a camwhore", "such a loser" and "so stupid" -like comments on member-posted photos. Okay, so it's just a couple of comments compared to spamming, but HECK! The response those few comments generated (this post is proof of that) is widespread! It's tantamount to saying "JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE SUCKS" on JT's official myspace and on his own website.
Net Lesson learned No. 1: Thou shalt not diss kids to their parents' faces. Else thou shalt face the wrath of mommies and daddies.
Wytbloke and deniseyoggie's posts drew the ire of the community (see links below for comments, responses, and reactions, note: some have been removed already and new ones are being posted since it's a very active topic). Repartee like this may be okay for generally unmoderated and loose community postings like those on youtube or yahoo videos, but to post something like this within a community site of parents, who are teaching their children the importance of good values, is definitely a death wish. One of the posters' schoolmates gave them a dressing down. I guess other than pissed-off parents, it also takes one of your own to put things in perspective for you (common environment, good intentions and all. Kudos to you, btw).
A common reaction would be a flood of flaming on the offenders' multiply accounts, but that didn't happen since everyone agreed it would be tantamount to lowering themselves to the haterz' levels. And these are parents so you really wouldn't expect them to stoop low.
Net Lesson learned No. 2 (to paraphrase the common sentiment of those who follow the issue): Thou shalt think first before posting. Then thou shalt think again before posting just to be sure.
Anyway, the posters' multiply accounts have already been blocked (from posting at kidsahoy) and their actions even reported to their school authorities (conduct unbecoming of a student of the institution, I bet they didn't see that one coming). They have since posted apologies, though some community members deem it too late.
Net Lesson learned No. 3: Hell hath no fury like a parent pissed off.
(Personal Gorilla Note: Had they done that to my pamangkins' photos, I'd have gone to their school, slammed them against every wall in Katipunan and ripped their heads off. Tito-Ninong lang ako, hindi parent. Of course I jest. Or do I? Uh, oh. Am I turning into a haterz? LOL.:D)
Congrats to the new UPLSAA President Eimee "sexy prexy" Lagrama (Groucho Marx). Also to the new members of the board: Carina Samaniego (Viking Helmet), Nathalie De La Torre (Bunny Ears) and Heidi Dizon (Blue Hair). They're shown here with Abbie Cruz (Cat Hat) and Harriet Santos (Golden Hair). (Hirap ko maging kaibigan, ano? Tsaka grabe ang Web 2.0, maraming magagalit pala sa iyo. :D)
To make a long story short, I'm trying to recreate a post I made very early yesterday morning. For some reason the site didn't update my blog when I pressed the submit button! I think I took too long so my login details reset.
Anyway, hello again. It has been a long time since I posted a long one (which explains why I'm so pissed, jeez, took too long to type all that for nothing). A lot of things happened since my last long post.
Didn't gain much weight over the holidays. Weighed myself and the scale tipped at 186lbs. I thought I'd be over 200lbs with all the holiday goodness. Still need to lose 10lbs, though.
I bade goodbye to an old friend. My favorite yoyo broke. He was a Yoyojam Minimotu. He was with me for three years. He came all the way from the Asia-Pacific Yoyo Championships last 2004 courtesy of my friends. He hitched a ride with them before he was given to me in Toytown Libis. We had a good run, he had always been with me whenever I performed in Christmas and birthday parties of my my nieces, nephews and inaanaks. He was also my main yoyo when I won in the Artistic Performance division at the 2005 Philippine National Yoyo Championships. Then, 2 weeks ago, I made a wrong yoyo return move, he crashed to the floor side first and he broke. I will surely miss him.
Why wasn't I able to post regularly? I was working on lettering and retouch for Seven Seas / Gomanga's Neconoclasm. Do pick it up when it gets published. :D
The Gorilla got a Flickr account just recently. I also added the Logahead Flickr widget to show recent thumbnails. I got the account because I could now take more and bigger pics with my new phone, an ASUS V80, my Christmas gift to myself.
My ASUS V80 is my new workhorse. It's more than my phone and cam, it serves as my personal media player (PMP). I slapped on a Transcend 2Gb miniSD for more storage. It does have its pros and cons besides the usual SMS, MMS and voice call functions.
PROS
2" TFT 176x220 260,000-color screen displays video nicely, animated gif wallpaper rocks on them!
Plays FM radio, audio and video. It actually comes pre-loaded with Sugarfree mp3s, which I don't really listen to. Earphones actually act as the radio's antenna too.
Mp3 equalizer functions, shuffle and repeat.
Auto-playlists, sort and play based on ID3 data like artist, album and genre.
File Manager allows for playing audio and video folder contents (which is how I organize my mp3s).
External boombox speaker for audio and handsfree.
55Mb internal storage capacity.
Additional miniSD support up to 2Gb, also acts as USB storage.
2 megapixel camera, CMOS sensor, 10cm macro mode, night mode, flash, flashlight, sequential capture, timed capture, up to 5 focus zones, frames, effects and QR code capability.
Flight mode, bluetooth and handsfree.
ASUS software for easy file transfer, transcoding, custom playlist generation and address book editing.
USB for data transfer and charging. I actually haven't used the USB wall charger since I've always charged via PC USB.
CONS
Only 2.5mm earphones fit in the audio plug. The usual 3.5mm earphones need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter plug. But I can live with that. I've found that SONYearphones work very well with my unit.
The rubber tip of the joystick fell off after two days. No great loss, I've learned to live without it.
No 3G.
Like what many ASUS phone users complain about, executing a space is difficult if you've texted a lot using Nokia phones. Pressing the space key (0) takes one to a symbols menu to choose punctuations, symbols or space. One workaround is pressing right on the joystick to move to the next place, but this adds to joystick usage.
Video has to be converted to 176x220 in 3gp or mp4 format. Solved by the included ASUS software and by 3GP Converter.
Despite the negatives, I still like it. I never leave home without it. I even bought a car FM transmitter so I could pump out the audio through the car speakers. Sitti Navarro, acapella, bossanova, The Crow, Desperado, DOA and Kung fu Hustle rock on the way home. I'm thinking of getting an Archos too for more PMP power. :D
With all the work I missed a tag by Juned over at baratillo.net. It's about 5 secrets. I'm actually finding it hard to answer it since my life's practically an open book, and I've already spilled my guts in previous posts. So... here goes...
I ate glue and paste in grade school. Funny. I think that prepared me for fire-breating later in my life.
I once belonged to Sailor Moon and Ranma 1/2 mailing lists. O_o;; Hey, they were the only ones around at that time.
Desperado, The Crow and Neon Geneis Evangelion somehow have a great effect on my life. I really dunno, it might be because of all the revenge, how they kick you in the nuts, make you walk away pondering about life and making you want to dynamite a lot of stuff after watching. Jeez, I love this stuff! :D
My heroes are comedian Pablo Francisco, skill toy performer and comedian Steve Brown and talk show host and head of security Steve Wilkos (he's been subbing for Jerry Springer for some time now, grapevine has it he's going to have his own show). Heck, Pablo Francisco's movie voiceover man bit is a classic, Steve Brown's innovation of freehand play and Steve Wilkos' accosting aggressive guests by telling them he'll knock them on their ass if they continue to be abusive all really get to me. Heck, I really love they way they somehow say "to hell with the world, I'm doing it my way" and end up touching and helping a lot of people along the way.
My dream is to to set up a Beowulf-class cluster at home. :D All that computing power at my fingertips. Next up is me taking over the world! Bwahahaha!
So that's that. Thanks for reading. :D Hopefully it will post on my blog now. (keeping my fingers crossed)
